Running a business can sometimes be very lonely

As an entrepreneur, you undoubtedly lie awake at times, unsure of where to begin in order to find a solution. You're on your own, and even if you know where to start, how can you be sure that you've done enough?

Perhaps it's important to reflect on what you really expect from yourself. Because managing expectations effectively starts with you. And then, what exactly do you expect from your team of employees in your company? Too often, expectations are implicit. And expecting someone to simply do their best is really not enough. If you're not clear about your expectations, how can your employees meet them? Without this, there is no teamintuition, which is key to high business growth.

Trust as the Foundation for Teamintuition

To develop teamintuition, trust is essential. The foundation for trust lies in creating mutual expectations and organizing the company based on them. This implies that trust is a leadership risk. In other words, if I, as an employee, do not have trust in my leader, the entrepreneur, then it will affect the performance of our company. As entrepreneurs, we have complete control over how we structure our organization. Moreover, we have a significant influence on the culture in our company.

We see that we actually have the steering wheel in our hands to consciously work on the trust perceived by the team (the employees), the customers, and the suppliers. Thus, it's clear that building trust is not just about correctly delivering the end products, but also about the journey to get there. It requires continuous attention.

To develop team intuition, trust is indispensable

Therefore, communicate your expectations to your team of employees and let them excel. Success or failure is measured against the expectations that were set earlier. Nothing is as important as clearly and explicitly conveying these expectations. Because what is not visible, does not receive attention.

As mentioned, the foundation for trust lies in creating mutual expectations. Mutual trust then forms the basis of collaboration. Because when others can rely on you and you on them, mutual trust grows. And that is the basis for developing teamintuition. It also enhances job satisfaction, and isn't that what we all want?!
