Are you dealing with one or more underperforming employees? If so, you are not to be envied, as this brings a lot of negative energy. Undoubtedly, you are struggling with how to discuss your concerns in order to resolve the situation.

These team members are far from proactive, are mostly negative, and shirk their responsibilities. Naturally, you want to prevent these individuals from permanently spoiling the team's atmosphere. This inevitably leads to less job satisfaction for everyone, affecting their attitude and motivation, resulting in significantly lower productivity.

In many companies, there is insufficient attention to 'problem cases', and intervention often comes too late. People may think that behavior is within the norm if there is no corrective action to indicate otherwise. But have you ever considered whether the observed behavior aligns with your company's core values?

Core values guide the behavior you expect from your employees. When this is clear to the entire team, other team members will spontaneously address those exhibiting undesirable behavior. Thus, the team itself becomes the correcting force. This happens because the parameters of desired behavior are explicitly defined within your company.

Experience shows that many companies have not explicitly defined their core values. This is a missed opportunity, as it's part of your company's DNA. By clearly defining the expected behavior of your employees, it's easier to address deviations. In other words, you've created a preventive measure that helps manage your team's productivity, at least in this aspect.

So, it's better to prevent than to cure, and in this way, you delegate some of your responsibilities to your team. For optimal operation, ensure that your organization is well-structured across the board. And this doesn't have to happen all at once; it's best done step by step. This approach can often prevent the need to dismiss employees!
