SME governance
What is SME governance?
Our definition of SME governance is the creation of long-term value within companies through direction and control.
Until recently, there was no governance model specifically for SMEs. These frameworks have historically been designed and implemented for larger (publicly traded) organizations. As a result, many entrepreneurs are unfamiliar with methodologies and tools to guide and control the creation of long-term value. At Route ICR, we talk mainly about having control over realizing your entrepreneurial ambition.
Within the Route ICR web application, you will find, in the form of a clear step-by-step plan, the first real SME governance model. Through this plan and clear e-learning, you systematically work on the dynamic business plan of your company, together with your team and/or with your advisor/coach.
SME governance is often seen as irrelevant by most SMEs. In other words, measures of good governance are not yet part of daily practice. Especially explosive growth and/or external demands, such as from an external financier, have so far been the reason to change this, particularly to manage the likelihood and impact of risks.
This is odd because, fundamentally, every entrepreneur wants to be successful and certainly not fail. Therefore, SME governance is actually relevant for every entrepreneur: it's about having control over realizing entrepreneurial ambition. And that involves quite a lot. That's why we pay ample attention to this unexplored area in the world of entrepreneurship.
